Laura fell in love with performing and being on stage at a young age, starting with dance, then piano, and eventually discovered her passion for singing when she enrolled in classical voice lessons at the age of 14 while studying with Constance Davidson. By the age of 16, Laura knew she wanted to pursue classical singing in her adult-life and began participating in various festivals and competitions near her hometown in northern Alberta.
After graduating highschool, Laura participated in a Rotary Exchange Program that took her to Budapest, Hungary where she lived for a year. During her time there, Laura had the opportunity to study at the Erkel Ferenc Music School under the direction of soprano Katalin Szűcs, who helped prepare Laura for auditioning to post-secondary institutions.
Upon returning to Canada, Laura was accepted into the Music Program at the University of Alberta where she studied with soprano Denice Bennett. After two years of studying there, she decided to complete her degree under the direction of tenor Benjamin Butterfield at the University of Victoria, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Music (B.Mus) in 2013. During her time living in Victoria, Laura was a chorus member with Pacific Opera Victoria.
Laura has had the opportunity to perform with various programs, singing the role of Golde in the musical “The Fiddler on the Roof” with Opera NUOVA in Edmonton, the role of The Countess in Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro” in Mairori, Italy with the Amalfi Coast Opera Program, and singing excerpts from The Merry Wives of Windsor as Mrs. Ford at Bard on the Beach in Vancouver, Canada.
