Elissa Matthew is a passionate voice instructor with over 9 years of vocal training and 16 years
of comprehensive musical experience. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Opera Performance from
the University of British Columbia, and is dedicated to passing on the tradition of singing to
aspiring musicians and music lovers alike.

This past summer, Elissa covered the role of Lepido in Handel’s Silla at Chicago Summer Opera.
Her previous summer engagements include performing as Susanna in excerpts from Mozart’s Le
Nozze di Figaro at both the Taos Opera Institute in Taos, New Mexico, and Opera Viva in
Verona, Italy.
In September, she performed the role of Frasquita in Peter Brook’s La Tragédie de Carmen with
Nebula Performances.

In addition to her vocal work, Elissa has studied piano since the age of six and completed the full
Certificate of Merit program with both State and Branch Honors.
Though her specialty is classical music, Elissa enjoys all genres and is committed to helping her
students discover and grow in the styles they love most. She firmly believes in the joy of
music-making and strives to keep that joy at the heart of every lesson.
