Samantha Fu’s passion for music led her to accomplish ARCT Performance certificates for both flute and piano from the Toronto Royal Conservatory of Music Examinations program in Canada.
In 2001 Samantha Fu graduated from the University of British Columbia with a B.Mus degree, majoring in Flute Performance. During this time Samantha also continued with her piano studies with Vancouver’s leading piano teachers. Later Samantha went on to receive a MMus and Professional Diploma in Orchestral Studies from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.
Samantha has won numerous scholarships from local music festivals, including 1st prize in the Chicago Flute Club’s Orchestral Excerpts competition held in 2007.
Samantha is currently a member of the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra, and has performed as an extra musician with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Vancouver Island Symphony Orchestra and the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra. As part of her involvement with the local contemporary music scene, she has performed with the Redshift Music Society, and has premiered several new Canadian works as a member of the Ethos Collective. Samantha enjoys sharing her art form through teaching and has taught the flute and piano in Richmond and Vancouver for over 18 years.
