Irina was born in Russia and has been trained in the classical Russian piano teaching method. After graduating from the state music school, she went to pursue a Bachelor of Music in Piano Teaching with Krasnodar Music College under the tutelage of Tatiana Doronkina. She then continued her studies and earned a Master’s Degree in Piano Pedagogy (Teaching) and Composition at the famous Rimsky-Korsakov’s State Conservatory in St. Petersburg under the tutelage of professor Natalia Korichalova (piano) and professor Grigorii Korchmar (composition). As a graduate student, Irina was performing annually at provincial and national piano competitions and was always a first prize recipient. Moreover, her talent was opened not only in playing the piano, but also in composition; consequently, Irina got the First place in the International Composer Competition.
Irina held teaching positions in piano and theory in Russia, as well as served as an accompanist and coach for choirs, vocalists, instrumentalists and ballet. After moving to Canada Ms.Gaivoronskaia excelled in RCM curriculum and successfully prepared students for RCM piano exams. Her students also have won gold medals and 1st places on a numerous of local and national competitions, such as Kiwanis Music Festival, National Performing Arts Festival & Russian National Piano Competition.
Irina’s teaching philosophy is based famous Russian teaching method, which incorporate proper technique and sound production. Irina always works with parents to educate them in proper practicing techniques outside of their weekly lessons. Music enjoyment plays a great part in kids education and Irina is looking forward to share her joy and love of music with students of all ages and levels.
