Piano and Cello teacher Elaine Siu is an enthusiastic music educator with a passion for teaching. She completed her Master of Education in Music at the University of British Columbia in 2024 and her Bachelor of Arts in Music from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2020. She specialized in piano and music education under the guidance of Hong Kong professional pianist Miss Wong Mei Ling.
Continuing her dedication to music, Elaine enriched her skills by participating in a piano masterclass led by world-class pianist Nigel Clayton and engaging in various education workshops to further enhance her music education knowledge. Additionally, she contributed her skills and expertise to the Kiwanis Music Festival and the Hong Kong Children’s Choir. She also served as the assistant conductor and piano accompanist for the Epworth Youth Singers.
Elaine pursued cello as a minor instrument during her bachelor’s degree and received guidance from professional Hong Kong orchestra cellist Cheung Ming Yuen. She has performed as a solo cellist in the Bless Asia 2017 Individual Art Exhibition by Chinese Visual Artists and as an orchestra member in the Epworth Village Methodist Church. Elaine has been teaching cello for six years, and her students have achieved excellent results in the HKYPAF International Youth Performance Arts Festival and ABRSM instrumental examinations.
Throughout these years, Elaine gained valuable teaching experience by instructing piano and cello to students of all ages, from young children to adults. She has extensive experience working with children and youth, incorporating pedagogical methods such as Orff and Kodaly to cater to the unique needs of different age groups and skill levels. Her experience conducting music exploration courses also inspired her to develop an integrated curriculum and to explain musical concepts dynamically through singing and body movements. Elaine believes that a vibrant and diverse musical environment enhances students’ interests, helping them to achieve their full potential. She is patient and supportive, always encouraging her students to strive for excellence. In addition to regular lessons, Elaine dedicates herself to preparing students for the Royal Conservatory of Music examination, competitions, and performances.
Her students have achieved excellent results, with many attaining champions and distinction grades in youth piano competitions, the HKYPAF International Youth Performance Arts Festival, and ABRSM-graded instrumental examinations. Elaine is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin and can communicate and conduct lessons with diverse students.
