April 21, 2022 By

Pianist and Violinist Amanda Andrishak have completed a Master of Music in Piano Performance from Indiana University, where she studies under the tutelage of Professor Evelyne Brancart. Previously, Amanda has pursued undergraduate studies in piano at the University of British Columbia, where she received her Bachelor of Music in 2020, studying with Dr. Terence Dawson. Upon graduating from UBC, Amanda was awarded the coveted Catherine-Cooke Topping Memorial Medal for musical excellence and creativity. She has been highly successful in her competitive endeavors; accolades include first place in the Alberta Provincial Music Festival, as well as prizes and scholarships from the NSAL Piano Competition, Vancouver Women’s Musical Society, Canadian Music Competition, and the BC Bösendorfer Piano Competition. Further abroad, Amanda has pursued summer studies at the famed Mozarteum Sommerakademie in Salzburg, Austria, as well as Orford Musique and the VSO Institute of Whistler, and has performed in masterclasses for Yoheved Kaplinsky, André Laplante, and Angela Hewitt. Amanda is a grateful recipient of scholarships from the Alberta Arts Graduate Scholarship, Alberta Foundation for the Arts, the Anne Burrows Music Fund, Winspear Fund, and the Ranald & Vera Shean Memorial Fund. She is also a sought-after collaborative pianist and has performed in countless chamber and duo recitals.

She holds an Associate Performer (ACCM) diploma from Conservatory Canada, and received the Harry and Sylvia Novak Memorial Violin Scholarship and ARMTA award in 2017 for high achievement in her exam. She
has performed for politician Vieri Berreti, and Live Better Homes.
Currently, Amanda holds a position as Associate Instructor of Piano at Indiana University, where she teaches beginner to advanced piano to undergraduate students in both private lesson and group class settings. She has over ten years of experience teaching piano, violin and music theory, and has taught students of all ages and levels. She is committed to fostering musical growth and success in her students; her students perform well in student recitals, and university-required piano proficiency exams, and RCM exams on piano, violin, and music theory, with many students earning first class honours with distinction (90%, 96%, etc…). Amanda enjoys teaching a variety of classical, jazz, and popular musical genres, and believes that a healthy balance of fun, hard work, and creativity is paramount for student success at the piano. Above all, Amanda hopes to equip her students with the skills to play the music that they are passionate about and to instill in them a lifelong love of music.
