How to register:
• Students can register and pay online for all of the courses. For private lessons, please call 778-297-5505 to reserve your weekly lesson time.
• Students can register in person at our office #120-6160 London Road, Richmond. Please, call 778-297-5505 to schedule a 15min. – 30 min. appointment. Please, have your first month’s tuition fee payment with you (check/cash/credit).
• WMA cannot accommodate DROP-IN inquiries. All of our teachers and staff would be happy to help you by APPOINTMENT ONLY.
Trial Lessons:
• The school CANNOT accommodate FREE TRIAL LESSON.
• K-12 students must pre-pay for 4 lessons as a trial. No refund is given 48 hours prior beginning of your session. During this time you will be evaluated for a full academic year enrollment. * read Tuition Fee below
• After your 4 lessons trial, adult students have 2 options: 1. pre-pay for 10 lessons (no refunds, only 10 lessons commitment) 2. monthly automatic withdrawals via credit card (withdrawals done at the beginning of the month, based on the number of classes to have in a month). Option 2 requires one month’s notice to stop lessons. * read Tuition Fee below
Frosty Music Gala, Summertime Spotlight Kids Concert, and Dress Rehearsals:
• Frosty Music Gala (in December) and Summertime Spotlight Kids Concert (in June) are large scale events/concerts that are held in Richmond for selected WMA students. These 2 concerts celebrate students’ achievements and are advertised in the local community. Students will receive certificates for participation. To be considered for these events students are required to attend Dress Rehearsal. All dates are pre-set and can be found in the WMA school calendar.
• There is a $20 fee to participate in either Frosty Music Gala, Summertime Spotlight Kids Concert, Dress Rehearsal. For example Dress Rehearsal and Frosty Music Gala – participation fee is $40. (Discount 1 ~ Several Instruments Discount: A student performing several instruments will receive $5 discount total for DR and a Concert. Discount 2 ~ Multiple Siblings Discount: Each sibling performing will receive a $5 discount total for DR and a Concert. Those 2 discounts cannot be combined.)
• We require a one-week cancellation notice to qualify for a refund.
• Parents and friends attend these events free of charge.
Missed or Cancelled Lessons
Student-initiated:
• All students are fully responsible to attend and be punctual for lessons (4-5 lessons per month).
• Private lessons missed by students due to family vacations outside of the official school holidays (Winter Break & Spring Break) will be charged in full and later made up at the mutual convenience of teacher and student.
• All partly or totally missed lessons without 24-hour notice will be charged in full.
• Students are encouraged to give 2 weeks’ notice for planned absences including family vacations, school events, sporting games, etc.
• Students are entitled to a maximum of three make-up lessons per school year as long as sufficient notice is received. Any additional make-up lessons are at the discretion of the teacher.
• The school will not issue a make-up lesson for a missed Semi-Private and Group Class.
Teacher initiated:
• Lessons missed due to teacher illness or concert activities will be made up at the mutual convenience of teacher and student.
Make-up lessons
• The school will not issue a make-up lesson for a missed Semi-Private or Group Class.
• A teacher will make three attempts to schedule a make-up private lesson. If a teacher contacts a student 3 times without any reply from the student – your lesson will not be made up.
• Once the make-up lesson is scheduled, the student must record the date and time accurately. If the student forgets or misses the make-up lesson without 24h notice, that lesson will not be made up.
• There will be no refunds for lessons missed.
• Students are entitled to a maximum of three make-up lessons per school year as long as sufficient notice is received. Any additional make-up lessons are at the discretion of the teacher.
Medical Exceptions:
• DOESN’T APPLY TO 10 LESSONS PRE-PAID OPTION. Pro-rated refunds will only be issued for students for medical reasons with a doctor’s certificate. Pro-rated refunds will be issued from the date on the doctor’s note. All refunds must be claimed within the same semester (Fall, Winter, Spring or Summer) as the registered class or will be forfeited.
Termination
Student-initiated:
• It is presumed that all students will continue lessons for the whole academic year. Should a private student wish to withdraw, one month’s notice is required in lieu of one regular monthly payment of tuition fee. If the student withdraws mid-month, the pro-rated amount for the remaining lessons is due immediately. If Private Students decide to discontinue immediately, one month’s payment is required. There are no refunds for Large and Small Group students if they wish to withdraw with or without notice.
Teacher initiated:
• Negligence in attending and practicing may result in being asked to withdraw from the enrollment.
Refunds, Withdraws & Transfers
We encourage customers to contact World of Music and Arts on Monday to Friday from 10AM – 2PM to receive a refund or to withdraw or transfer from a class. Please note: refunds, withdrawals, and transfers cannot be processed online. Office Phone line: 778-297-5505. All refunds must be claimed within the same semester (Fall, Winter, Spring or Summer) as the registered class or will be forfeited.
Private/Semi-Private Lessons/Small Groups – NEW STUDENTS
Refunds are available within 48 hours of registration, after 48 hours no refunds are provided
Private/Semi-Private Lessons/Small Groups – CURRENT STUDENTS
Tuition fee and Registration Deposits are non-refundable
Large Groups: Seasonal Classes, Summer Camps
50% of the fee will be refunded if notice received 2 weeks prior to the start of the program
No refunds will be given after that date.
Please note: Some courses and out trips may have a no-refund policy for items such as art supplies, or tickets for events. Programs may be eligible for Federal Children’s Fitness/Art Tax Credit
School Concerts for Adult Students
• Based on students’ interest the school will be hosting “Music Socials”, informal concerts – gatherings for adult students.
Tuition Fee
• Ten (10) post-dated check should be submitted at the beginning of the school year dated on the 1st of every month starting with September. Usually, each check should be a payment of four (4) lessons per month, 40 lessons per year. Each school year may vary depending on the school calendar. The K-12 student will receive 39-40 lessons.
• Automatic withdrawal via credit card option is available for K-12 students. When enrolled for the school year – 10 withdrawals will be administrated on the 1st of every month (September – June). Usually, each check should be a payment of four (4) lessons per month, 40 lessons per year. Each school year may vary depending on the school calendar. The K-12 student will receive 39-40 lessons.

World of Music and Arts is a private company, which has the right to refuse service for any reason which does not conflict with Canada’s human rights laws.
