Soprano Amira McCavitt’s performance highlights:
She performed “The Witch” in UWOpera’s production of Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods, as well as “Fiordoligi” in UWOpera production of Mozart’s Cosi fan Tutte. Her Debut role with UBC opera was “Helena” in Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Amira sang the role of “Magda” in Menotti’s The Consul with UBC Opera, as a part of the symposium “Breaking the Cycle: Canada’s Refugee Record on the Global Stage”. In June of 2017, Under the baton of Maestro Jonathan Darlington, Amira performed the role of “Ariadne” in UBC Opera’s production of Ariadne auf Naxos. Amira sang as a member of the Vancouver Opera Chorus in Vancouver Opera’s extravagant production of Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot the role of “Giorgetta” in Puccini’s Il Tabarro with the UBC Opera Ensemble.
