Michael Ibsen aims to expand the repertoire for the classical guitar, both through transcription and commissioning new music, and actively works with living composers. Recent highlights for Michael include the ‘Made in Canada’ tour where he performed alongside award-winning guitarist and composer Nathan Bredeson. The tour included concerts across Ontario dedicated to new Canadian music by composers such as Jason Noble, Christina Volpini, Daniel Mehdizadeh, and Patrick Roux, as well as the premiere of a new sonata (in homage to Dmitri Shostakovich) dedicated to him and composed by Nathan Bredeson. learn more
