Rowena has a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the Vancouver Academy of Music with tenor David Meek. In addition to performing, Rowena has been teaching and coaching other singers ranging in age from one to sixty since 1994.
Rowena has sung with Burnaby Lyric Opera, Opera Appassionata and the Vancouver Academy of Music Opera Studio. She has performed excerpts from operas favourite heroines including Donna Anna, Countess Almaviva, Mimi, Lauretta, Tatiana, Die Marschallin, Marie, and Baby Doe.
In the past few years, Rowena has sung in master classes given by Mark Morash (San Francisco Opera), David Shefsiek (Pacific Opera Victoria), Ann Hodges (Manitoba Opera) and Robert Holliston (Victoria Conservatory of Music).
In addition to the opera stage, Rowena has had success on the concert, oratorio and musical theatre stages. She has performed numerous solo recitals and appeared as a soloist for Opera Appassionata's Oratorio for AIDS concert. In addition, Rowena has worked as Vocal Coach for the Markham Youth Theatre as well as performed as a soloist for this musical theatre company.
Rowena has performed with numerous choral ensembles including the Vancouver Bach Choir, Peninsula Women's Chorus, Stanford Early Music Singers and the Toronto Concert Singers.
Beginner & Intermediate Piano Instructor
Over 15 years of teaching experience makes Rowena Bridson an invaluable addition to World of Music and Arts teaching team. At the age of 16, Rowena received her ARCT Diploma in Piano Performance and had a piano performing career in Canada and US. While studying music, Rowena participated in a number of festivals and competitions, where she ranked highly, receiving gold awards and trophies.
Nurturing a beginner student takes a special set of skills: patience, dedication and ability to balance musical enjoyment with focused learning. Rowena Bridson had excelled in all of the above and is well respected in musical community as a great instructor for a beginner and intermediate levels piano.
Rowena’s students are highly motivated by well established WMA school’s curriculum based on a combination of Royal Conservatory of Music and other leading North American and European systems. While studying with Rowena, students excel very fast and are able to participate in local festivals and competitions with stellar results.
Rowena’s nurturing teaching style lays a great foundation to a solid piano playing skill and keeps Rowena a very busy and thought after music instructor in Metro Vancouver area.
