REGISTRATION

How to register:
  • Students can register and pay online for all of the courses. For private lessons, please call 604-809-5730 to reserve your weekly lesson time.
  • Students can register in person at our office #140-6231 London Road, Richmond. Please, call 604-809-5730 to schedule at 15min. - 30 min. appointment. Please, have your first month tuition fee payment with you (check/cash/credit).
  • WMA cannot accommodate DROP IN inquiries. All of our teachers and staff would be happy to help you by APPOINTMENT ONLY.
Trial Lessons:
  • The school CANNOT accommodate FREE TRIAL LESSON.
  • K-12 students must pre-pay for 4 lessons as a trial. No refund is given 72 hours prior beginning of your session. During this time you will be be evaluated for a full academic year enrollment. * read Tuition Fee below
  • After your 4 lessons trail, adult students have 2 options: 1. pre-pay for 10 lessons 2. monthly automatic withdrawals via credit card (withdrawals done at the beginning of the month, based on the number of classes to have in a month). That option requires one month notice to stop lessons. * read Tuition Fee below
MISSED OR CANCELLED LESSONS

Student - initiated:
  • all students are fully responsible to be on time for lessons, and that they should show up for all lessons (4-5 lessons per month).
  • private lessons missed by students due to family vacations outside of the official holidays will be charged in full and later made up at the mutual convenience 
  • all partly or totally missed lessons without 24 hour notice will be charged at full.
  • The school will not issue a make up lesson for a missed Group Class.
Teacher - initiated:
  • Lessons missed due teacher’s sickness or concert activities will be made up at the mutual convenience.
Make up lessons:
  • The school will not issue a make up lesson for a missed Group Class.
  • A teacher will make 3 attempts to schedule a make up private lesson(s). You must reply to your teacher as soon as they present you with some options. If a teacher contacts a student 3 times without any reply from the student - your lesson will not me made up.
  • Once the make up lesson is scheduled, the student must record the date and time accurately. If student forgets or misses the make up lesson without 24h notice, that lesson will not be made up.
  • There will be no refunds for lessons missed. In the event, that the teacher cannot accommodate make up lesson(s) during the school year and Summer Semester, the lesson(s) will be credited towards the Fall Semester.
Medical Exceptions:
  • Pro- rated refund will be only issued for medical reasons with a doctor’s certificate. Pro-rated refunds will be issued from the date on the doctor’s note. All refunds must be claimed within the same term as the registered class or will be forfeited.

TERMINATION

Student - initiated:

  • It is presumed that all students will continue lessons for the whole academic year. Should a student wish to withdraw, one month’s notice is required in lieu of one regular month payment of tuition fee. If you decide to discontinue immediately, one month’s payment is required.
Teacher -initiated:
  • Negligence in attending and practicing may result in being asked to withdraw from the enrollment.
REFUND, WITHDRAWAL AND TRANSFER GUIDLINES

Seasonal Classes
Unless otherwise specified
  • If notice is given prior to the beginning of the SECOND session of the course, a refund, less classes taken, will be provided.
  • If notice is given after the beginning of the SECOND session, no refund will be given.
Private/Semi Private Lessons
  • If notice is given 72 hours prior to the start of the course, a full refund will be given.
  • If refund request is received less than 72 hours prior to the start of the course, no refund will be given.
Short Programs (1 week or less), Camps, Workshops, Out Trips and Special Events
Unless otherwise specified,
  • If less than one week's notice is given, 50% of the fee will be refunded.
  • If notice is given on or after the start date of the program, no refund will be given.
  • Transfers will be allowed with 72 hours notice prior to the start date of the program.
Please note: Some courses and out trips may have a no-refund policy for items such as art supplies, or tickets for events. Programs may be eligible for Federal Children's Fitness/Art Tax Credit

SCHOOL CONCERTS AND EXAMS FOR K-12 STUDENTS
  • WMA 's academic calendar consists of 4 semesters: Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer (optional).
  • At the end of every semester the student will be tested on their improvement at their teacher's discretion. A test may consist of scales, etudes, technical exercises, as well as Eartraining. An instructor will select the appropriate repertoire for each student, based on RCM syllabus or other well respected systems. A report card will be given to each student at the end of every semester.
  • There will be 2 dress rehearsals and 2 concerts during the academic year. The first dress rehearsal and a concert "Frosty Music Gala" will be held at the end of the Fall Semester. The second dress rehearsal and a concert "Spotlight Summertime Kids" will be held at the end of the Spring Semester. Participation is at teacher's discretion.
SCHOOL CONCERTS FOR ADULT STUDENTS
  • Based on students' interest the school will be hosting "Music Socials", informal concerts - gatherings for adult students.
TUITION FEE
  • Ten (10) post dated check should be submitted at the beginning of the school year dated on the 1st of every month starting with September. Each check should be a payment of four (4) lessons per month, 40 lessons per year. The K-12 student will receive 38 lessons and will take part in 2 dress rehearsals and 2 concerts. (Dress Rehearsal + Concert are charged together as one lesson). Lessons that fall on the holidays will be made up.
  • NEW: Automatic withdrawal option is available for K-12 students. When enrolled for the school year - 10  withdrawals will be administrated on 1st of every month (September - June) for 4 lessons. Administration fee may apply. The K-12 student will receive 38 lessons and will take part in 2 dress rehearsals and 2 concerts. (Dress Rehearsal + Concert are charged together as one lesson). Lessons that fall on the holidays will be made up.
  • Adult Students: after your 4 lessons trail, adult students have 2 options:
    • 1. pre-pay for 10 lessons (no refunds) 
    • 2. monthly automatic withdrawals via credit card (withdrawals done at the beginning of the month, based on the number of classes to have in a month). One month’s notice is required in lieu of one regular month payment of tuition fee. If you decide to discontinue immediately, one month’s payment is required.

  • Prices are subject to change at the beginning of a new academic year.
